New Filmmaker-in-Residence Creating 360VR Film on Kelp Forests

We are excited to announce that Erik Rochner has been selected as CMG's second Filmmaker-In-Residence for 2016!  Erik has worked all over the globe, on land, air, and sea, as a cinematographer and Virtual Reality (VR) producer for National Geographic, Nature, PBS, Environmental Defense Fund, and Explore.org.   His Filmmaker-In-Residence project will utilize these skills as he embarks on a 3-5 minute, live-action virtual reality film about coastal Californi'a stunning kelp forests.  

Action Grant awarded for 360VR Film to Protect Rays

We are pleased to announce our first Action Grantee of 2016: Danny Copeland!  Danny has been awarded a $10,000 grant for his project, The Devil RAYality - which will focus on mobulid rays gaining CITES protection.  Mobulid rays are currently targeted for their gill plates, but with a declining population of the species the importances of their protection is critial.  This campaign will inspire, engage and help inform the ocean-lovin

CMG Announces 1st 2016 Filmmaker-In-Residence

We are pleased to announce the first recipient of the 2016 Filmmaker-In-Residence award - Kristen Weiss!  Kristen's project A Series of Solutions will include four films each featuring an aspect of ocean health and sustainability related to the research that the Center for Ocean Solutions is leading.

CMG Selects CubaMar as 2016 Blue Initiative Grantee

CMG is proud to announce the 2016 recipient of our Blue Initiative Grant, the Cuba Marine Research and Conservation Program (CubaMar). CubaMar, a project of The Ocean Foundation, has worked in Cuba since 1998 to study and protect shared marine resources between Cuba and the United States.
