We applaud your efforts to date to defend New Hampshire's natural and cultural heritage from the proposed Northern Pass transmission line. Please join us in making sure that our children and grandchildren can pass this vital heritage on to their children and grandchildren. Please ask Northeast Utilities and Hydro-Québec either to bury the entire project in New Hampshire or stop it altogether.
Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines. In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals. Everywhere except New Hampshire.
Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.
The most valuable long-term resources we have in NH are our strong local economy and our natural and scenic resources. Northern Pass would sacrifice all that on a temporary project to benefit electric companies. Find a better alternative.

Please consider the least disruptive route, such as the underwater option.

NH does not obtain any benefits from the project, and it will leave a permanent environmental scar on our beautiful State. There is a viable alternative , underground it.

What company is gaining from actual construction of the steel towers? Please, don't let big money elbow out the citizens who invest the most in our communities, by living here, and making the state richer by supporting our local economy.

As a resident, business owner and a Real Estate agent, this project already has had a negative impact and not one tower has gone up. Save our way of live and our State from scenic destruction.

Tourism is more essential to our economy than slightly cheaper electricity.

Overhead lines will be the end for this states reputation and tourism. The technology is in place to bury these lines. NU and PSNH must incur the cost to bury or cancel the project!! Thank you!

It will be an affront to our natural beauty, for no benefit to our state1

To preserve the north country.

We should be producing electricity locally. There is no need to purchase electricity made in another country and send it hundreds of miles and spoil our landscape and quality of life in NH.
Ken Carignanabout 11 years ago Manchester NH
Whats in it for NH? I have read we have enough electricity for NH and other states will reap the benefits. The jobs it will create are temporary until the project is complete. Not to mention the eyesore that it will create in our beautiful North Country

Northern Pass will destroy property values, scenic views, tourism is a probable health hazard.and most jobs go to Canadians. PSNH LIES!

We've been going to the woods in NH for the past 36 years. Our children are now just beginning to explore them and learn from them. Please do not allow this to pass!

Our precious natural resources are not worth any price. We must preserve our astounding beauty, our pure air, water, soils and our serene vistas.

I agree with not destroying our forests to obtain energy for here or elsewhere especially since we have the technology to bury it and accomplish goal of increased energy but minimal destruction of the land.

Our state is too beautiful to disfigure. We depend on tourists. These lines would be an eye soar. Bury them!!!!

As a life long member of the AMC and a passionate conservationist, this unique country must be protected from all incursions. "This land is our land, this land is your land..."!
