Bury or Stop Northern Pass

Dear Governor Hassan,

We applaud your efforts to date to defend New Hampshire's natural and cultural heritage from the proposed Northern Pass transmission line. Please join us in making sure that our children and grandchildren can pass this vital heritage on to their children and grandchildren. Please ask Northeast Utilities and Hydro-Québec either to bury the entire project in New Hampshire or stop it altogether.

Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines.  In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals.  Everywhere except New Hampshire.

Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.

Sincerely,

Less power usage would turn to less power demand. Save what we have left of our nature and wildlife habitat before some day its all gone.

I am a student at Plymouth State University and I would hate to see the destruction of our beautiful landscape and watch New Hampshire get taken advantage of.

Its beyond the realms of clear reasoning that anyone should want to bulldoze their way through the pride of new Hampshire and one of our nation's most breathtaking and beloved treasures.

IT IS TIME THAT OUR GOVERNMENT OFFICICALS START WORKING TOWARDS GREEN ENERGY HERE IN UNITED STATES, NOT MORE DISSTRUCTION OF OUR FORESTS AND NATURAL LANDSCAPES TO FEED THE CORPORATE MONEY WHORES, HERE AND IN CANADA.

I live in New Hampshire and I love to camp and hike in the White Mountains. It would be heart-breaking to see those wonderful hills destroyed due to human greed. Please bury the lines so we can enjoy the beauty of nature we have been provided with.

These are protected beautiful lands, and they are your states greatest asset. I love hiking these unobstructed woods, as it is an escape from MA, which has been destroyed by projects like this.

The US must preserve natural land and its resources, must progress to true green energy, and I want to eventually live in this area in part BECAUSE of the natural land/resources and tendency of use of earth friendlier technologies and regulations.

Preserving New Hampshire's beauty should be important to everyone. There are plenty of other renewable energy sources that would have less impact and preserve our state.

This is land that is owned by the United States, not politicians. I am the United States. You are the United States. This is our land, set aside for us. This is a cop out. Spend the money for the Northern pass to figure out a different way to do it.
