Bury or Stop Northern Pass

Dear Governor Hassan,

We applaud your efforts to date to defend New Hampshire's natural and cultural heritage from the proposed Northern Pass transmission line. Please join us in making sure that our children and grandchildren can pass this vital heritage on to their children and grandchildren. Please ask Northeast Utilities and Hydro-Québec either to bury the entire project in New Hampshire or stop it altogether.

Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines.  In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals.  Everywhere except New Hampshire.

Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.

Sincerely,

Those towers are the ugliest things forced on us to look at. They will get larger and larger, uglier and uglier as the time goes by. You want to see the future? Take a ride to Quebec.

This power will NOT benefit NH residents ,they just want our land to supply power to other states. BURY the lines or better yet find another state that is willing to give up their land . NO to NORTHERN PASS

Big energy proposing massive overhauls to a landscape that we know is in need of preservation while being a facet to local job stability within the rural community, there isn't any for me to view this as sustainable energy in NH while uprooting wildlife.

The White Mountains are a national treasure, and one of the few places you can go to experience some semblance of wilderness any more. The area should be vigorously protected because it is irreplacable!

to take all the acres of land that don't even belong to us we are destroying all for profit and gain, but what's gonna happen when we actually lose this beautiful planet cause once it's gone there is no amount of money gonna bring it back!!

Long time adventurer and visitor to White Mountains and North Country. Firmly believe in renewable energy, but this proposal does not support the mission of NH and becoming more carbon neutral to benefit our state and its citizens.
