Bury or Stop Northern Pass

Dear Governor Hassan,

We applaud your efforts to date to defend New Hampshire's natural and cultural heritage from the proposed Northern Pass transmission line. Please join us in making sure that our children and grandchildren can pass this vital heritage on to their children and grandchildren. Please ask Northeast Utilities and Hydro-Québec either to bury the entire project in New Hampshire or stop it altogether.

Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines.  In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals.  Everywhere except New Hampshire.

Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.

Sincerely,

Why is this important?

This will be detrimental to the economy of NH, especially since the state depends so highly on tourist dollars.

Because of its breath taking away, calming beauty.

It is important to protect the wild and natural spaces we have left. Now is the time to decrease our consumption not increase.

We need to find a way to bring dependable power to these areas in my favorite state of NH without destroying any part of what makes it the place where all the country can bring their families to learn to love and be in awe of nature.

we do not need northern pass but we do need a beautiful, pristine north country for all to cherish and enjoy!

We need to keep our treasured natural areas from "needs"that we have come to depend on so much. I need to spend time In these areas of the forests to refresh my spirit and Renew myself to carry on my work as an oncology nurse caring for cancer patients.

Please keep the natural scenic beauty of the outdoors unscarred by the northern pass. We are lucky to have such a vast amount of undeveloped land with spectacular views. Let's keep it that way.

The White Mountains are New Hampshire's main attraction. There is NO reason to destroy the beautiful scenery for a project that is not necessary and will not be used to reduce NH residents electric bills. BURY THE LINES OR STOP THE PROJECT!

Lets get smart like Europe and start burying power lines

Even though I live in Pennsylvania, I frequent New Hampshire because of the beauty of the natural landscape. There are other places I could go. The proposed steel lattice and H-frame towers are, in a word, ugly, and would factor into my choices.

Bury the lines or don.t allow a routing through our state Gov. Thank You

It is so important to preserve our natural vistas. There MUST be an alternative.

This beautiful state would be visually harmed forever if Northern Pass as presently proposed were permitted. It would be immoral to degrade the God-given natural beauty of NH.

I hike in the Whites in the summer and this would be an unnecessary eyesore. There are other options.
