Bury or Stop Northern Pass

Dear Governor Hassan,

We applaud your efforts to date to defend New Hampshire's natural and cultural heritage from the proposed Northern Pass transmission line. Please join us in making sure that our children and grandchildren can pass this vital heritage on to their children and grandchildren. Please ask Northeast Utilities and Hydro-Québec either to bury the entire project in New Hampshire or stop it altogether.

Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines.  In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals.  Everywhere except New Hampshire.

Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.

Sincerely,

I do not want to support a business that is heavily subsidized be a foreign power. It provides little if any benefit to NH. It will be as ugly as sin!

I am a proud member of the SPNHF- Land Steward-25 YRS, President-TRAILWRIGHTS of NH and Chatham Trails Association. and BOD of the Friends of the Wapack. Have Northern Pass bury the service like they have in adjacent states-do it right ! Thank you.

Please save the views! Northern Pass should not be allowed to build overhead transmission lines! Bury the lines or stop Northern Pass!

Towers above the tree line are unacceptable to our natural resources. Bury the lines like they did in NY, VT and ME. NE Utilities is only concerned that they would loose revenues if state and other rights of way were used with buried conduit.

The land is going to have a big scar across it. We need to start thinking about burying transmission lines and letting some of the forest come back, not taking more away. Ethan (13)

It's a scar on our earth that we don't need to create. I live in Connecticut and consider the White Mountains my mountains, our children's mountains. Please don't move forward with this awful project.
