Please join us in making sure that our children and grandchildren can pass this vital heritage on to their children and grandchildren. Please ask Northeast Utilities and Hydro-Québec either to bury the entire project in New Hampshire or stop it altogether.
Everywhere we look we see proposals for new high-voltage, direct current transmission lines. In Maine, Vermont, and New York, new north-south high-voltage direct-current lines are being proposed completely underground or underwater; even Hydro-Québec itself is advancing an underground transmission project to connect with New York. Everywhere we look we see new, innovative underground transmission technology proposals. Everywhere except New Hampshire.
Governor Hassan, before you host the New England Governors and the Eastern Canadian Premiers here in New Hampshire this July, please make it clear that New Hampshire welcomes each of them to our magnificent state. But please also convey the message that we will insist on smart, well-planned energy projects that advance a clean energy future and we will not welcome any overhead extension cords like Northern Pass that provide little benefit to the state, at the expense of our natural and scenic resources.
Bury the transmission line in its entire length through New Hampshire. The areas through which the route is planned are beautiful areas and compete with some of the nations best. Time to stand up for the environment and say BURY the lines at the minimum.

Northern Pass, if it isn't buried, will destroy the scenic beauty of NH, not only just for one area but many, many more when power hungry "southern" states demand more extension cords to Hydro Quebec or whatever plants in Canada try to do the same.

My grandfather rock climbed the second route on Cannon Cliff in 1929, the Whitney Gilman Ridge, and I continue to climb at Cannon 85 years later. The mountains are beautiful and should not be desecrated. Human values need to trump economic value.

I am from northern NH and still have land in the proposed Northern Pass pathway. I am NOT for burying and am fully AGAINST the Northern Pass. This project has no overall lasting economic benefit whatsoever for NH or for the region.

The power lines on my street are buried...makes my street more beautiful than most, and more resistent to storms. That makes our geothermal sysrem even more reliable, so the pay-off for burying the lines is 100% good.
